The Carnival of Cultures begins on 2 June in Berlin

Visiting Berlin at this time of year is a great idea: starting in June, we can enjoy the Berlin Carnival of Cultures (Karneval der Kulturen).

This festival takes place every year during the Pentecost week and is a celebration of cultural diversity. This year, the celebrations will kick off on Friday 2 June with the Street Fest, the carnival’s main attraction.

The Kreuzberg district will once again organize the renowned and colourful annual parade through the city’s public areas over four days from 2 – 5 June. It will take place on Friday from 4 pm – 12 midnight, from 11 am – 12 midnight on Saturday and Sunday, and from 11 am – 7 pm on Monday.

The parade begins in Hermannplatz, and passes through Hasenheide and Gneisenaustraße before ending in Mehringdamm.

Professional and amateur artists wear costumes to take part in the parade, providing great ethnic and cultural entertainment. They are accompanied by good music, dancing and other activities that range from the most classic to the most modern. During the parade, around 80 allegorical floats from different countries make their way around the city.

The parade is a dazzling show brimming with colour, music, diversity and talent. Above all, the event promotes a message of tolerance, friendship and integration. Visitors will also find handicrafts from all over the world being sold, a wide variety of food stalls around the Blucher Platz square selling home-cooked fare, and four stages hosting different acts that vary between traditional dance and the latest modern music.
Make the most of your stay by enjoying the Berlin Carnival of Cultures to the full!
