Spanish films shown at the Berlin Spanisches Filmfest

Now in it’s fourth edition, the Spanisches Filmfest Berlin has established itself as one of the main events in the German capital’s cultural calendar. From 6th to 11th October, Spanish-speaking films will be shown with the aim of creating spaces for intercultural dialogue and promoting art in the city.

What really makes this festival stand out is the variety of audiovisual productions, genres and trends it exhibits. One of the aims is to introduce new Spanish filmmakers and actors who are doing their bit to help the audiovisual world. This blend of Spanish are and culture is one of the reasons Gatrooms became an official sponsor of the event.

Among the films being shown in Berlin’s Moviemento cinema are La Distancia (The Distance), Hermosa Juventud (Beautiful Youth), Perdiendo el Norte (Losing the North), La Isla Mínima (Marshland) and En Tierra Extraña (In a Strange Land).

The competition organisers support artistic exchange, so much so that the festival leaves the competitive aspect to one side. Out of all of its sections, only the short films compete to win.

Since 2013, the Spanisches Filmfest Berlin has a section called “With Other Accents” in which it invites a Spanish speaking country to the festival. On this occasion they will show Mexican titles such as Los Bañistas (The Bathers) and Llévate Mis Amores (All of Me).
